Though you can access your SBCGlobal email account anytime through a web browser, you can also configure your account on email clients such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Android, and iPhone. To set up your SBCGlobal email account on an email client, you will need to have information on SBCGlobal email settings. The email settings of SBCGlobal are based on two protocols – POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol). While POP is known for allowing access to email from a single device only, IMAP lets users sync and access their emails across multiple devices. Therefore it is suggested to set up your account with IMAP.

Steps to Set Up SBCGlobal Email Account on Outlook with IMAP Settings

  1. Click on the File option in Outlook located on the top-left corner of the window and select Info option. Under the Info option, select the Account Settings option.
  2. Next, you will need to select the Manual Setup or additional server type option and click on the Next.
  3. Then, select the POP or IMAP option and click on the Next button.
  4. On the subsequent screen, you will need to enter the below–mentioned information in the relevant fields displayed on your screen:

User Information

  • Your Name: Enter your name
  • Email Address: Enter your complete SBCGlobal email account address

Server Information

  • Account Type: POP3/IMAP
  • Incoming mail server: Imap.mail.att.net
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Smtp.mail.att.net

Login Information

  • User Name: Enter your name
  • Password: Enter your email account password
  1. Once you are done entering the required information in the relevant fields, you will need to click on the More Settings option located on the same window in the bottom-right corner. In the More Settings section, you will need to select the checkbox next to the following options:
  • My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  1. Then, you will need to go to the Advanced tab and verify the following information on your screen:
  • Incoming Port: 143,
  • Outgoing Port: 465
    • Secure – Port: 993
    • Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Insecure – Port: 143
    • Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  • Not Selected: This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection: None

NOTE: For Secure SSL /TLS Settings, you will need to select the checkbox next to “This service requires a secure connection (SSL)” in both – Outgoing and Incoming emails.

  • Outgoing (SMTP) Secure – Port: 465
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure – Port: 587
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  • Outgoing (SMTP) – Port: 25
  • Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Insecure – Port: 587

  1. After you =have verified the information on your screen with the above-mentioned information, click on the OK button to save the settings. Then, click on the Next and Finish button to complete the configuration process.
